About ACPA: The ACPA 2015 Tampa Annual Convention seeks to create a space for participants to consider our practice and role in the changing higher education landscape while reinforcing our enduring values and professional growth. The convention will provide opportunities to collaborate and strengthen internal and external partnerships to advance student success. Through an intentionally developed curriculum featuring exceptional practices and a published conference proceedings, we hope that participants will create connections with inquiry and action. Further, we hope attendees will commit to establishing and renewing professional networks and friendships in Tampa and beyond.
Heather SheaHeather Shea's career in student affairs spans 16+ years and five different campuses, and involves experience in many different functional areas including residence life, multicultural affairs, women’s centers, student activities, leadership development, and commuter/nontraditional student services–she is a true Student Affairs Generalist. Heather is currently serving as the assistant director of RISE (Residential Initiative on the Study of the Environment), a living-learning community at Michigan State University while also a full-time doctoral candidate in MSU's HALE (Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education) Program. Dwayne Todd currently serves as the Vice President for Student Affairs at Columbus College of Art & Design, where he provides leadership for the areas of residence life, student activities and events, safety and security, counseling services, career services, academic advising, academic support services, disability services, campus dining services, student conduct administration, orientation/new student programs, and student insurance programs. Todd previously served in various Student Affairs roles at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX, and was the Assistant Chair of the MBA program at Franklin University in Columbus, OH. Among these institutions, his career in higher education spans 19 years of work in multiple areas of higher education administration. Dwayne has also served in multiple positions on the ACPA Governing Board, is a Past President of the Ohio College Personnel Association, and currently serves as an ACPA Foundation Trustee, and as the Program Co-Chair for the 2015 ACPA Convention in Tampa, FL. Kathy Adams Riester
Kathy Adams Riester serves as the Associate Dean of Students and Director of Parent & Family Programs at the University of Arizona where she directs and develops all aspects of communication, education and outreach to parent and family members of the University of Arizona students. She is also currently serving as the Special Events Chair for the ACPA 2015 convention in Tampa, Florida.
