Ashley Budd

Ashley Budd is a digital strategist and designer based in upstate New York. She specializes in bringing offline experiences online. Ashley is director of digital marketing at Cornell University serving Alumni Affairs and Development. Prior to joining the team at Cornell, Ashley spent more than five years in Enrollment Management and Career Services at Rochester Institute of Technology. Ashley speaks about college admissions, digital fundraising, communication and media technologies.


Chelsea Haring

Chelsea Haring is the Chief Operations Officer and Higher Education Strategist at Switchboard (a “zebra” company) in Portland, OR. Chelsea started her career in career services in Higher Education. As a previous career services leader, she held positions at Johns Hopkins University, Wingate University and Portland State University and was active in NACE for many years. After leading several innovation projects within institutions, she realized the potential for building frameworks that could support systems change across the industry. She transitioned into the private sector as an industry consultant supporting new startups ranging from ed tech companies (Handshake), to student success nonprofits (University Innovation Alliance), and emerging service design partners (Switchboard) entering the higher education market. As a consultant in the past three years, she has supported over 150 institutions and specializes in student/alumni service design, emerging leadership development, organizational change management, and technology and data integration to drive strategic institutional outcomes. In effort to advocate for investing in human capital to drive change in higher education, she founded the Higher Education Innovation Fellowship in 2017 and is now welcoming the third cohort of emerging innovators from various campuses in Spring 2019. When not at work, she is a mom to three kids ages 8,6,4 and advocates for better support infrastructure for caregivers in the workplace and in her community.


Liz Gross

Dr. Liz Gross is a data-driven researcher and scholar who specializes in creating entrepreneurial social media strategies in higher education. Her professional super power is to embolden colleges and universities and help them launch modern market research strategies using social listening. Teaching is Liz’s passion and she brings that to colleges and universities as the founder and CEO of Campus Sonar, a specialized social listening agency that matches high-value social media intelligence and engagement opportunities to organizational strategic initiatives. Liz has more than 15 years’ experience spanning the private and public sector including Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and University of Wisconsin-Waukesha. She received a Ph.D. in Leadership for the Advancement of Learning and Service in Higher Education at Cardinal Stritch University, a master’s degree in educational policy and leadership from Marquette University, and a bachelor’s degree in interpersonal communication from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
