As May approaches, we’re preparing to welcome thousands of students into the alumni family. How do we ensure our newly minted alumni will stay engaged for life? What are some of the best programs to gather their post-graduation plans, communicate alumni benefits, and encourage them to stay connected?
In this episode of Advancement Live, Kim Brown speaks with student and young alumni engagement experts from Northwestern University and SUNY Cortland, as well as a strategist from iModules, about fresh ideas for connecting with soon-to-be graduates and recent alumni – with the goal of keeping them interested in their alma maters long after commencement.
Kim BrownKim Brown enjoys being a connector and finding new ways to foster relationships using social media. She is the Director of Strategic Communications and Digital Engagement in Syracuse University’s Office of Alumni Engagement. Prior to joining the alumni office, Kim oversaw alumni programs in Syracuse University’s Career Services office. One of her proudest accomplishments during that time was creating the @WorkingOrange Twitter handle, a concept that many peer institutions have since modeled.
Bobby is Associate Director of Recent Alumni Engagement at Northwestern University. He manages programming to encourage the engagement of young alumni. Bobby has a bachelor’s degree from Miami University and a master’s degree from The Ohio State University.
Michael is Executive Director of Alumni Engagement at SUNY Cortland. In his role, he provides leadership and direction for the College’s overall alumni engagement efforts with oversight of the Lynne Parks ’68 SUNY Cortland Alumni House and the Cortland College Alumni Association, Inc. Michael is a graduate of Le Moyne College.
Mirko is Senior Account Manager and Client Consultant at iModules Software. Prior to joining iModules, Mirko worked at Wilkes University as the Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving. At iModules, Mirko consults with clients to help them to meet their strategic goals with Encompass. He received his bachelor’s degree from Drew University and his master’s degree at the College of Europe.
Caitlin is Assistant Director, Student to Alumni Transition at Northwestern University. In her role, she engages graduating seniors and young alumni through newly-created life skills, career, and class-wide programming. Caitlin has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona and a master’s degree from Tufts University.
