We are so fortunate at Higher Ed Live to have a team of dedicated, brilliant, and talented hosts from all over the country. These adjectives also describe our newest host, Michael Kiser. His twitter handle might be @one_lucky_man, but we sure feel like the lucky ones!

Michael is joining Ashley Budd as a host on our main Higher Ed Live channel, which airs every other Thursday at 1:00 p.m. EDT.

Michael serves as Colby College’s first vice president for communications, a position he has held since September 2011. In that capacity, he oversees the College’s brand identity, digital and print design, content strategy, media relations, social media, and web development. Prior to his tenure at Colby, he was the director of development communications at Virginia Tech, where he served as chief communications officer for the university’s 130-person development division and for Invent the Future, Virginia Tech’s $1B comprehensive campaign. He is a graduate of Wabash College (B.A. English) and Purdue University (M.A. English/Creative Writing).

He’s been active in higher education in both public and private settings for more than fifteen years and has won numerous CASE Awards for Excellence for his work in publications, development communications, crisis management, and more. (Do you see why we feel so fortunate that he’s joining the team?)

Michael’s first show airs Thursday, April 17 at 1:00 p.m EDT. Michael is focusing on Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes: Handling Transition at the Top. If you stay in this business for any length of time, you’re bound to go through a presidential transition. Michael will lead a conversation focused on how to prepare and plan for the inevitable.

Please join me in welcoming Michael to the Higher Ed Live family.
