Our first episode on live video for alumni engagement just scratched the surface of what’s doable when it comes to engaging alumni in real-time with video. As Periscope, Meerkat, Facebook LIVE, and other platforms continue to evolve and grow in popularity, alumni offices MUST include live video in their engagement strategies.
In this episode of Advancement Live, Kim Brown speaks with experts from Duke, Cornell, and Longwood University about what they’ve accomplished LIVE – and where they see future opportunities to expand live offerings.
Kim BrownKim Brown enjoys being a connector and finding new ways to foster relationships using social media. She is the Director of Strategic Communications and Digital Engagement in Syracuse University’s Office of Alumni Engagement. Prior to joining the alumni office, Kim oversaw alumni programs in Syracuse University’s Career Services office. One of her proudest accomplishments during that time was creating the @WorkingOrange Twitter handle, a concept that many peer institutions have since modeled.
Dom is digital and social media specialist at Duke University. He develops social media and website content for the main university accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google+ and other social networks, as well as for Duke Today and Duke’s homepage. Keith is associate director for digital innovation at Cornell University. He manages the Cornell alumni communities on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, and Instagram; an aggregate population of nearly 60,000 alumni.
His past life as an aspiring video artist has helped engage alumni via both live streaming and YouTube videos. Most recently he has been breaking new ground experimenting with prospect research on the development and refinement of a process for prospect identification on social networks and implementing a crowdfunding platform that aims to attract previously unengaged donors. Paige is Assistant Director of Live Digital Events at Longwood University. She serves as primary contact for all office web-based initiatives. Paige has implemented a live web series for Longwood called “The Real World Chronicles.” She also creates and records regular alumni updates for Ryan Catherwood, AVP of Alumni Relations and a familiar face for Advancement Live viewers.
