Next week, Advancement Live will explore alumni engagement in the United Kingdom with Jade Bressington, Deputy Head of Alumni Relations at University of Birmingham, and Bruno van Dyk, Director of Development and Alumni Relations at Durham University. The show will air at 6:00 p.m. GMT (1:00 pm EDT), Tuesday, September 24th. Although this edition of Advancement Live will be specifically oriented for alumni relations professionals in the U.K., our audience in the U.S. and around the world will find the topics discussed relevant to their own administrative challenges.

During the program, Bruno, Jade and host Ryan Catherwood, Director of Engagement Strategy at the University of Virginia, will explore the unique components of alumni relations in the United Kingdom and describe their vision for the future. Although Durham University and the University of Birmingham are very different in size and structure, both institutions share similar challenges as a result of changes to the higher education landscape in the U.K. Each university is working to overcome internal roadblocks that exist as a bi-product of cultural norms that place greater value on the college system rather than the university at large in the case of Durham, as well as alumni affinity towards individual schools at Birmingham.

In both cases, historically important cultural values from within the institution have had a profound impact on the development of an alumni engagement strategy for the future. We’ll discuss these concepts and many more! Please join us on the 24th at 6pm and watch live.
